There has been robust trade taking place between Barbados and fellow CARICOM Member Suriname
The Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to Guyana and Suriname Alphea Wiggins says the Dutch-speaking CARICOM State has been helping Barbados with needed resources.
Among them, raw materials for construction.
Foods have also been part of the exchange during the COVID-19 pandemic and that initiative continues.
In addition, a Surinamese Delegation recently visited Barbados for discussions on housing.
The island has also been exporting medicines to Paramaribo.
Ms. Wiggins says there’s also room for tourism traffic between the two countries. The special envoy says this area is being actively discussed.
