CMC – A manhunt has been launched for armed robbers who attacked a security team at the Bank of Scotia in the central parish of Manchester on Friday.
According to police reports, the incident occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. (local time) at a branch of the Bank located in the town of Mandeville.
When the gunmen attacked, at least three people who were waiting in line to use the Automated Banking Machines (ABMs) were shot and wounded.
The injured were rushed to hospital. However, according to the President of Beryllium, Andre McLean, no guard was hurt.
Videos of the attack, which have gone viral on social media, show men armed with high-powered guns, carrying what appears to be large money bags from a building to an awaiting black motor car, that later sped off.
It is not yet known how much money was stolen.
Up to late Friday, police cordoned off the area, shutting down the use of ABMs at the Mandeville branch, and closing several businesses in the vicinity.
Friday’s incident is the latest in a series of armed attacks on Beryllium money couriers, with some incidents being fatal.
