A halo blankets the sun in Barbados on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. (Zazeannah Walker)
If you have not taken a look up at the sky this morning you are missing out on something pretty spectacular.
A circle, which some people describe as looking like a rainbow, forms a perfect ring around the sun.
The Barbados Meteorological Services explained that the “halo is a ring or light that forms around the sun or moon as the sun or moon retracts off ice crystals present in a thin layer of cirrus clouds. The halo is usually seen as a bright, white ring although sometimes it can have colors like the one visible today.”
