A 12-member Barbados under-19 water polo team left the island this morning for the Carifta championships in Miami, Florida.
The team of captain Israel Bryan, Shae Chase, Aine Deane-Warner, Ethan Roachford, Nathan Walker, Kaden Alleyne-Bovell, Kishaun McClean, Kyan Alleyne, Zachary Best, Matthew King, Joshua King and Xavier Peterson is under the guidance of Head Coach Nathan James and Assistant Coach Xavier Smith-Taylor.

The championship, which serves as a five-year pilot programme for the sport, is being held in the US for a second year. Last year it was hosted under the auspices of the Barbados Water Polo Club. This year’s competition is being spearheaded by Curacao.
Along with Barbados, there will be teams from Trinidad and Tobago, Bonaire, the Bahamas, Curacao and a number of teams from the US.
The Carifta Water Polo championships run from November 10 to 12.
