Fawad hundred drives Pakistan as Windies make key strikes

Left-hander Fawad Alam returned to hit his fifth Test hundred but fast bowler Jason Holder snatched two wickets to keep Pakistan in check at tea on the third day of the second Test at Sabina Park in Jamaica on Sunday.

In a second session which lasted 2-¼ hours, Pakistan gathered 61 runs and lost four wickets, to reach the interval on 273 for eight.

Fawad, who retired 20 minutes after tea on Friday’s opening day with heat exhaustion, was unbeaten on 111 and partnered by Shaheen Shah Afridi on four.

Fawad has so far faced 197 balls and counted 17 fours.

Resuming at 1 pm (2 pm Eastern Caribbean time) on 212 for four after the first session was suspended after only eight balls due to a damp run-up, Pakistan lost Faheem Ashraf after 26 with just four runs added, lbw to fast bowler Jayden Seales (2-30)

And Mohammad Rizwan (31) and Nauman Ali (0) fell to the first deliveries after the first drinks break to leave Pakistan stumbling on 231 for seven.

Rizwan was hit in front by Holder (2-46) who then had new batsman Nauman caught at the wicket flirting with a widish delivery.

Hasan Ali (9) added 36 for the eighth with Fawad before he was tragically run out in a mix-up over a second run.
