Barbados has held talks with the World Trade Organisation on the importance of multilateralism in addressing the current challenges faced by the trading system.
The talks came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on how to prepare for a successful 13th WTO Ministerial Conference, to be held in Abu Dhabi in February 2024.
Recalling the outcomes achieved one year ago at the 12th Ministerial Conference, Ms. Okonjo-Iweala and Prime Minister Mottley emphasised the key role the WTO continues to play in order to improve people’s lives, particularly those in vulnerable economies like Barbados.
Ms. Mottley wants the rules-based system to be fair.
