Design economy declining 

The design and innovation industry in Barbados is in crisis and needs urgent attention.

That is the view of the Chief Executive Officer at Export Barbados, Mark Hill. He is calling for investment in the sector, given that it is the one offering much promise for exports.

He says that while the bio-based or pharmaceutical sector has been growing steadily at 22 per cent, the news has not been so good for the design sector which is in need of a lifeline.  

Mr. Hill made the remarks during the launch of the Future Forward Innovation Challenge for schools at Pelican Village on Harbour Road, St. Michael.  He adds that Export Barbados was incentivising the challenge competition to ensure students and teachers take it seriously.
