Amid concerns over the selection process for a new Chief Executive Officer for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. the Most Honourable Jerome Walcott is assuring the process was open.
He also made it clear that he did not interfere in the selection process.
Dr. Walcott was at the time responding to Opposition Leader, Ralph Thorne who raised his concerns as the Estimates Debates shifted to the Health and Wellness Head.
Despite the strides made in his Ministry, Dr. Walcott says there are a number of challenges in the health sector to be addressed.
It was revealed that a wider National Nutritional Policy and an expanded community mental health programme are on the cards.
On the latter, Dr. Walcott says this will be complemented by mental health action plan.
